Тихой сапой IBM Rational выпустил новый релиз XDE, версии 2003.06.12. На официальном сайте IBM информации о нем почти нет, также, как нет и возможности скачать обновление или пробную версию релиза (уже есть, смотрите ниже)

Вот что нового в релизе (цитата из release notes):

• Support for Microsoft Windows NT 4
• Rational XDE Extensibility (RXE)
  • Writeable API
    • Enhanced to allow creation and modification of model elements.
    • Diagrams can also be rendered to files in JPEG, WMF, and other formats.
  • Menu Extender
    • Extends top-level and context menus with new menu items that call your RXE API programs.
    • Create menu extensions that are driven from user selections.
    • Menu extensions work on both Visual Studio .NET and Eclipse-based shells.
• Visual C++ Round Trip Engineering (RTE) support
• Support for Gang of Four (GoF) patterns in C++
• Compact Framework Round Trip Engineering (RTE) support
• Data modeling enhancements
  • Expanded database management system (DBMS) support, including DB2 UDB iSeries.
  • Improved logical modeling and class/table transformation
    • Class to Table Transformation Report.
    • Control how generalization relationships are transformed to tables - roll up or roll down.
  • Physical database modeling and round-trip engineering
    • Enhanced DB2 UDB zSeries round-trip engineering - audit, data capture, edit procedure, encoding, validation procedure attribute on table, and label for table.
    • Target Transformation (schema migration) enhancements.
    • Storage tab on Table Specification for assigning tables to tablespaces.
    • Added support for DB2 UDB - large tablespaces and index tablespaces.
    • Added support for Oracle - assigning indexes to tablespaces.
    • Optionally display alias names on diagrams.
  • Diagram improvements including updated visibility and layer icons.

Таким образом, впервые у Rational появилась полная поддержка Visual С++ для проектов, разрабатываемых в Visual Studio.Net. До этого момента в XDE поддерживались только языки C# и Visual Basic, а Visual C++ поддерживался только Rose и только для старой студии шестой версии.
